Jeremy Smith and his brother Ben Smith won a recent Xtreme Bass Series tournament with a five-bass limit weighing 28.71 pounds. The series ran events May 30 and 31.

American Bass Anglers AFT Division 21 — Kissimmee Chain, June 6–7 The two-day season finale launches out of Kissimmee. Matthew Gunn won the previous Division 21 stop on Lake Toho on May 2.
On the Water
The bass schooling bite is picking up as surface temps climb — the same pattern that put the Smith brothers' bag on the scales. On the Kissimmee Chain, post-spawn fish are still working hydrilla edges and sand transitions on Toho ahead of the AFT finale weekend.
Lake Kissimmee remains the panfish destination. Shellcracker and bluegill have held on bedding areas through May, and crappie are catchable along deeper grass edges.

SWFWMD's modified Phase III "Extreme" water shortage restrictions remain mandatory through July 1 across Polk County and west-central Florida. Once-per-week irrigation by address, private wells included. Lake levels across the Winter Haven Chain stay low — watch dock clearance and canal navigation between the southern and northern chains.
The Florida Department of Health advisory for blue-green algae at Northwest Recreation Pond in Apopka, issued in early May, has not been lifted in any source confirmed this week. No contact with visible bloom water.
Burn bans remain in effect across most of Central Florida. Conditions are still dry.
